Three title matches on Christmas day

This Friday’s edition of SmackDown was recorded on Tuesday night at WWE ThunderDome.

Like the WWE live TV episodes, the recordings included a virtual crowd on the ThunderDome screens. Three title matches were recorded for Friday’s show, which will be broadcast on Fox at 20:00, Eastern Time.

Here are the results:

– Universal champion Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens in a steel cage match to retain his title

From outside the ring, Jey Uso handcuffed Owens to the cage near the end. Reigns came out of the cage to keep the Universal Championship.

– Women’s team champions Asuka and Charlotte Flair defeated Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair and Bayley and Carmella in a triple-elimination match to retain their titles.

There was a pre-match segment in the ring to determine this match.

This was Asuka and Charlotte’s first title defense after defeating Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax to become champions for women’s teams at TLC. Bayley and Carmella were the first team eliminated.

– There was a backstage segment with The Street Profits. They gave Sami Zayn a “I was an intercontinental champion” T-shirt, mocking his new “I’m the intercontinental champion” shirt.

– Daniel Bryan defeated Jey Uso

– Big E defeated Sami Zayn in a forestry match to win the Intercontinental Championship

Big E celebrated with some carpenters to close the show.
