Thousands of COVID-19 vaccination schedules at a Colorado Springs medical clinic will be rescheduled elsewhere as potential storage issues are investigated, state health officials announced late Friday.

The future suspension comes “as a result of irregularities in the storage and handling of vaccines” observed by the staff of the health department of El Paso County during an inspection, according to the press release.

The clinic has administered nearly 4,000 vaccines to date. The state health department is working to determine whether the incident was isolated and whether the clinic has records showing that storage protocols have been consistently followed, according to the statement.

Health officials “are in the process of determining whether those who have been previously vaccinated at this location will need to re-initiate their vaccine series,” the statement said, adding that officials do not currently believe who received the vaccine there have cause for concern.

More than 1,000 meetings were canceled at the location on Saturday, in addition to 6,000 meetings scheduled for May 8, the statement said.

Those with scheduled appointments at the clinic will be contacted by the state and rescheduled at another vaccine clinic in the county, the statement added.

The clinic offers a number of “aesthetic medical spa” services, such as laser hair removal, acne treatment, facial treatments, tattoo removal and Botox injections, according to its website.
