A Wisconsin pharmacist was arrested after a hospital worker was found to have deliberately broken down hundreds of doses of COVID-19 vaccine, according to a report.
While authorities did not name the suspect, records show that a licensed pharmacist, 46-year-old Steven Brandenburg, was arrested Thursday at Ozaukee County Jail, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
Bradenburg – who appears upset in his small room – has been arrested on preliminary charges of serious criminal damage to property and reckless safety, but it is unclear whether his allegations relate to vaccines sabotaged at Aurora Medical Center.
However, police previously announced similar charges against an anonymous pharmacist on Thursday and confirmed his arrest in the case, but did not release the man’s identity “pending a formal notification of the allegations”.
The hospital said it fired the anonymous worker on Wednesday after admitting to intentionally removing 57 ampoules of the Moderna vaccine from a hospital refrigerator, rendering them useless.
