This mode puts the Half-Life: Alyx gravity gloves in Skyrim VR

Half-Life: Alyx’s gravity gloves have ruined a lot of my other virtual reality games, because being able to point and throw objects at my hands has solved a lot of weird maneuvering problems common in other games. . It’s hard, after the elegance of the Half-Life system, to go back to bending, bypassing and grabbing in the air to pick up objects – or worse, having your hands without any collision with the world around you.

Enter the modules. Specifically, enter the FlyingParticle module, which launched HIGGS VR for Skyrim VR. It’s a mode that adds gravitational interaction with Skyrim’s glove and seems to work nicely.

HIGGS stands for Hand Interaction Gloves and Gravity for Skyrim. VR-focused YouTuber Cangar made the video below to demonstrate the features of the mode and contains everything you’d expect from an Alyx-inspired mode:

You can show the items and turn them over in your hands. You can now use your hands to push things on the tables. The hands in the game will hold the patterns in natural positions, allowing you to hold bottles at the base, tip or any point along the side, for example. Now you can leave items over your shoulder to put in your pocket, a feature common in many first-person VR games. You can use this system to remove armor from defeated enemies. It even works with Skyrim’s theft system, highlighting red objects that you will be marked by thieves for picking up.

There are a few differences between this implementation and Half-Life: Alyx. First of all, here you point your hand at the objects to attract them to you, which I can imagine getting used to. There is an .ini file included, however, that will allow you to adjust some of its settings to your preferences.

Instructions for installing and configuring HIGGS VR can be found on the Nexus Mods page of the mode. You will want to download the VRIK mode for the full experience seen in the video above, as this gives you an in-game body and finger animations to grab objects.
