This is where eligible Utahns can receive COVID-19 vaccination schedules

Another 700,000 Utahns have just become eligible for the 19-month COVID vaccine – the first day officially that people aged 50 and over could sign up for an appointment.

People with diabetes, chronic kidney disease or a body mass index of 30 or higher have also become eligible, Gov. Spencer Cox said Thursday. He asked Utahns to wait until Monday to book his appointments, to allow locations to prepare for the rush of new cases – but some agencies did not wait and began making appointments on Thursday.

So where does a meeting come from? The Utah Department of Health works through county and regional health departments, health care companies and pharmacy chains to distribute the vaccine as widely and as quickly as possible. Cox said his policy is to “embrace chaos” and encouraged residents to keep checking back when they can’t get a slot right away. The sites saw an increase in demand on Monday.

In all cases, the first rule is: Sign up for an online meeting first.
