About 100,000 Venezuelans living in an irregular state in the Dominican Republic will begin to be documented starting next month, the director general of migration, Enrique García, reported yesterday.
The official explained that for these purposes the digital platform will be available next month, to begin the process of documenting those Venezuelans, which will be done digitally. Venezuelans will submit the necessary documents and only on the day of delivery of the card will be in person to avoid congestion.
In another order, the director of migration explained that the repatriation of aliens in an irregular situation does not stop and that last month 38,000 undocumented immigrants were returned to their countries of origin.
He argued that repatriations are carried out in compliance with the rights of citizens and stressed that the Dominican Republic has the right to citizenship to regulate the presence of aliens on its territory.
Garcia said that since August, when he took office, more than 200,000 returnees have been repatriated for lack of documents to stay in the country and that since the pandemic began in March last year until August, no foreigners have been repatriated, but that there were thousands who entered the national territory
