Given the significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Puerto Rico, the expert recommendation appears to be reaching consensus that it is necessary to speed up vaccination on the island.

In the case of former US surgeon general, Antonia Coello de Novello, he assured in an interview with Telenoticias that Puerto Rico will not have herd immunity until the vaccines are massive.

For the doctor, massive vaccination efforts must be made every day, like the one carried out at the Convention Center last week.

Coello de Novello pointed out that you should be vaccinated every day until 11 p.m. and that you should present the vaccine after 3 p.m. without an appointment.

“Those who work need the peace of mind to know that when they need a vaccine, they will find it,” he said.

The doctor explained that enough vaccines are arriving on the island to carry out these massive events, and that “everything must be done right” before the first storm hits.

This, as he said, as the hurricane season begins, there is a possibility that the shipment of vaccines to the island will be delayed.
