They killed the “vitamin thief” while demanding money on the bus

Óscar Armando Comayagua, 43, who was killed yesterday in a bus on Route 2, was on probation and had a long criminal record for robbery, theft and other crimes, police sources said.

One of the last police and judicial cases dates back to the beginning of October 2020, when he robbed a pharmacy that operates between 3. Oriente Street and 4a. Avenida Norte, in the historic center of San Salvador.

On that occasion, the General Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) accused him of the crimes of robbery and deprivation of liberty of four women.

According to the indictment, on June 12, 2020, at approximately 8:00, Comayagua entered the pharmacy while the four employees were alone. Two of them were in the hallway.

Comayagua entered the scene with his hands at waist height, claiming to have a firearm; Thus, he threatened the employees, shouting that he would kill them if they did not hand over the money from the cash register.

Once he subdued the four employees, Comayagua tried to open the cash register drawer, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t, so he decided to leave, but first he locked the four employees in a room to prevent by doing so. follows.

However, one of them managed to call the National Civil Police. Comayagua had not been to more than 200 meters from the pharmacy when he was captured by police.

When they continued to search him, they found only a cell phone, apparently his property, and four boxes of vitamin C that he had stolen from the pharmacy when he failed in his attempt to steal the money from the box.

According to police sources, a few days ago, Comayagua had regained his freedom, although he was still on trial.
