A AIRCRAFT which entered Honduran airspace was secured on Tuesday by operations by the Armed Forces in the Tabacunta sector, near Brus Laguna.
The plane was secured after an accident in the La Mosquitia area, being completely destroyed after incineration.
Armed forces reported that the said plane from South America directed to the national territory, would have transported drugs. After it happened, there was a deployment of soldiers in the nearby points to locate possible discoveries related to the alleged drug plan.
Northeastern Department of Thank God it is particularly vulnerable to drug trafficking due to its remoteness, limited infrastructure and minimal government presence. Drug trafficking organizations take advantage of these vulnerabilities, which make it more difficult to detect and ban.

The US State Department recently released a report on the fight against drug trafficking in Honduras. The report details that traffickers exploit Honduran territory for the transit of cocaine to the United States and the chemical precursors used to produce illicit drugs.
In the first nine months of 2020, cocaine seizures surpassed those of 2019 in Honduras, but, according to the State Department, significant challenges remain in intercepting illicit drugs transiting by land, air and sea.
In 2020, the Honduran government highlighted the location and eradication of fields used for drug trafficking in the northeastern part of the country. Meanwhile, as of October last year, the Honduran National Police had eradicated about 40 hectares of coca plantations and security forces located and destroyed 11 clandestine cocaine laboratories with some support from the United States mission.
