These are the new biosecurity measures you need to follow at El Salvador International Airport

The air terminal has strengthened its measures, given that more tourists are expected to arrive in the country before the Easter holidays.

The Easter holidays will increase the flow of passengers who use the International Airport as an air transit terminal. For this reason, the Autonomous Executive Commission for Ports (CEPA) has established new biosecurity measures to detect people suspected of COVID-19 in a timely manner.

These are some of the new provisions that passengers who use this terminal must comply with.

* Thermal imaging cameras Six new thermal imaging cameras have been placed in the main corridors of the terminal with the help of which the temperature can be measured remotely from tourists. These rooms will be located in strategic areas such as the check-in entrance, the main entrance, the inspection point 4 and the corridors of rooms 4, 8 and 10. A year ago, three more were installed in different areas of passenger flow.

* Minimum of accompanying persons This provision is not new, but will be strengthened this holiday to ensure compliance. Only a maximum of two people will be allowed to accompany the traveler regardless of whether he leaves or enters the country. The farewell area will be in the main parking lot and before entering the temperature will be taken and you will need to wear a mask.

* Surveillance system to avoid congestion To prevent people from crowding into an area of the airport and the risk of COVID-19 contagion increases, CEPA has strengthened its video surveillance system. Its responsible staff will check on the screens which areas are more crowded and will send their teams to guarantee the necessary physical distance.

A new airline will arrive in El Salvador in April, and the ferry will start operations in the middle of the year, says the head of Cepa

* Disinfection stations Various disinfection stations containing alcohol gel are installed throughout the airport so that anyone can apply them on their hands. This will ensure more security for the terminal users.

* Foodcourt and Plaza de la Bondad are still closed The airport keeps these areas closed because they are crowded places. The food court has been a regular farewell area for the family, but due to the pandemic, it is not possible to use it.

* The stores are open, but with measures Passengers can shop in duty-free shops, but must comply with the biosecurity measures they need, which basically include using a mask, applying alcohol gel and taking the temperature.

According to official CEPA data andn El Salvador International Airport, between January 1 and March 21, 2021, in total 5,120 commercial passenger flights and 298,421 inbound and outbound passengers.
