The Ministry of Health and Social Protection decided by an administrative act to unify and update the biosecurity measures on both national and international flights. If you plan to travel, you know the steps you need to take.
Julián Alfredo Fernández Niño, director of Epidemiology and Demography, indicated that through Resolution 411 of 2021 All biosecurity protocols are unified on national and international flights, which will enter into force on April 7, 2021.
In general, most recommendations apply to any type of flight. “Some recommendations that are already outdated or have little scientific evidence are being updated, such as those related to restrictions on aircraft entertainment systems, as if properly disinfected they do not pose a greater risk,” the official explained.

To enter the airport:
In accordance with the provisions of Resolution 411 of 2021, passengers who have symptoms associated with covid-19 should not show up at the airport. Neither those who have been in “close contact” with a covid-19 positive or those who have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the last 14 days.
Passengers must enter the terminal no later than 2 hours before the scheduled time of their flight, if it is a domestic flight. If the flight is international, you must enter the airport no later than 3 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Negative PCR for international travel:
In view of the emergence of new covid-19 strains, including Brazilian, British and South African, among others, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has established a mandatory PCR test with a negative result from Colombians and foreigners living in Colombia, who enters the national territory by air.
“With the emergence of three strains of public health interest and others under observation, a challenge is emerging regarding the need to strengthen genomic surveillance. Faced with the test, it must be performed within 96 hours of entering the country. For those who do not present it, a strict isolation protocol has been established for 14 days, with rigorous monitoring by the health and judicial authorities.
International passengers are also required to provide real information about their state of health, their origin, their recent contact with suspected or confirmed cases of covid-19 and to provide accurate and precise information about their Columbia number and telephone address.
Using the mask:
All people over the age of two must wear surgical masks, and for adults over the age of 60, it is recommended to wear N95. “This given the emergence of new variants and contact with people of different backgrounds indoors, which, despite the ventilation of aircraft, forces us to take extreme measures,” said Health Minister Fernando Ruiz.
Passengers are also advised to wear more masks to replace them during the flight. When the flight is longer than two hours, it is recommended to change the mask when it is dirty or damp.

In the most recent update from the Ministry of Health, the continuity of the use of CoronApp on domestic flights and Check-Mig on international flights is also highlighted.
“The reason we believe CoronApp is effective is that it now connects with the results of the covid-19 tests and reveals whether people have given positive results in the last 14 days,” the health minister explained.
Therefore, Fernández said, the recommendation is reiterated to travelers who have had positive tests in the last 14 days, have been in contact with a suspected case of covid-19 or have symptoms, will not be able to travel.
Passengers must also report to the EPS, to the territorial health entity where the residence and place of residence are located, to the National Tracking Contact Center (CCNR) and to the airline if within 14 days after the flight they present symptoms that coincide with. those of covid-19.

On flights of more than 2 hours in which people can eat, they must do so at intervals, in order to avoid all people taking off their masks at the same time.
