These are the 26 cities where the beaches and spas will be closed by municipal executive order

The Association of Mayors announced today that the first 41 associate directors will implement a uniform executive order with greater restrictions for COVID-19 in the face of dissatisfaction with what was announced yesterday by Governor Pedro Pierluisi.

In the respective executive order that will apply to the municipalities with popular mayors, they establish the closure beaches, spas, quays and islands.

This ordinance will apply to the following 26 municipalities:

Mayagüez, Rincón, Aguada, Aguadilla, Isabela, Quebradillas, Hatillo, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Vega Baja, Dorado, Toa Baja, Carolina, Loíza, Río Grande, Luquillo, Naguabo, Yabucoa, Guayama, Arroyo, Salinas, Santa Isabel, Juana Díaz , Ponce, Peñuelas and Guánica.

The executive order established by the municipalities will enter into force today, Friday, and will be in force until April 30.

Other provisions that apply to all 41 municipalities are:

  • Municipal employees and government offices must switch to virtual mode in non-essential tasks. Those who are non-essential and unable to work remotely will continue to enjoy the accumulation of compensatory time, as a first instance, or accumulated vacation leave.
  • Retail stores and malls need promoting collection and delivery systems.
  • They will not grant exemptions or permits for any type of social activity.
  • Cancellation of all municipal activities and the use of public and communal spaces, which promote the crowding of people, understood as festivals, carnivals, tours, retreats, among others.

Moreover, the coverage decreed by the governor continues to be in force in all municipalities, along with the other provisions.
