Toluca /

To continue the accelerated growth of positive cases in covid-19 there may be a delay in the distribution of medicines for your treatment, because, despite the fact that the laboratories responsible for its manufacture continue to operate, demand has grown exponentially since the end of November.

The President of the National Union of Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurs (Unefarm), Juvenal Becerra, reported that, since the end of November, small pharmacies located in different parts of the entity and in Mexico City increased their sales, mainly in the case of covid-19 care medicines.

“Right now there is a fair supply, I had several intermittent absences in what was April, May and JuneToday the laboratories are better prepared; let’s hope that the return of infections will decrease, because there is also a limit for laboratories in the production problem ”.

If accelerated growth continues, both in terms of the number of positive cases and in the number of hospitalized cases, he added, there is a risk that it will exist in mid-January, again, intermittent thinning, mainly to those drugs with the highest rates of consumption during this pandemic.

  • He indicated that among the products with the highest demand are oseltamivir, azithromycin, acetaminophen, ceftriaxone, vitamins C and D, enoxaparin, among other drugs that have been used in various treatments to attack covid-19, which they are added to products such as antibacterial gel, face masks, liquid hand soap and other personal care products.

He stressed that, given the advance of the pandemic, the representatives of this association meet weekly with various laboratories, distributors and pharmacists, so that medicines, mainly those focused on the care of covid-19, do not have deficiencies.

In the case of the State of Mexico, he indicated, municipalities that have recorded a significant return in the sale of these drugs are: Los Reyes La Paz, Chalco, Nezahualcóyotl, Ecatepec and Valea Toluca.

“Work in pharmacies has increased a lot, from November until now, derived from this strong return to covid, we continue with all the protection measures, with the staff at the counter, with a return in the sale of medicines.”
