SF. PETERSBURG, Florida – The Yankees traded Thairo Estrada to the Giants for cash. Estrada was assigned to the mission to make room for Rougned Odor on the list of 40 men following his job at Rangers.
Odor made his first start for the Yankees Sunday, playing second base.
The 27-year-old had to shave his distinctive beard as part of Yankees politics and said it was “weird.”
Odor said his 3-year-old daughter “doesn’t even want to look at me.”
A more pressing concern is whether Odor will be able to complete at third base, where he has never played in a game – although he has worked extensively in the spring.
He said the biggest challenge was the different angle of the throw, which forced him to change his footwork.
