The Yankees add left winger Justin Wilson to the bullpen

NEW YORK – Left-hander Justin Wilson returned to the New York Yankees after two seasons with the New York Mets, accepting a contract on Monday, an ESPN source confirmed.

Wilson joins a bullpen led by relatives Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton, both left-handed. Right-hander Chad Green joins right-hander Darren O’Day, who was hired after the Yankees traded Adam Ottavino to the Boston Red Sox in a cost-cutting move.

The 33-year-old Wilson was 5-0 with a 3.10 ERA in 74 appearances with the Yankees in 2015, then moved to the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs before spending 2019 and 2020 with the Mets.

New York is also finalizing a minor league contract with wide receiver Robinson Chirinos, who is set to appear in the spring training sessions of Major League Baseball, according to several reports.

The 36-year-old broke up last season with the Texas Rangers and Mets, who bought him on August 31st. He hit .162 with a home run and seven RBIs in 74 bats in 26 games.

Chirinos is also a nine-year veteran of Major League Baseball who had two rounds at home and three RBIs for the Houston Astros in the 2019 World Series loss to the Washington Nationals.

His best seasons were with Texas in 2018, when he hit .222 with 18 home runs and 65 RBIs, and with Houston in 2019, when he hit .238 with 17 home runs and 58 RBIs. -hate.
