The Xbox One game was unexpectedly canceled two months before its release

A future Xbox One game was unexpectedly canceled two months before its release and, in the process, raised questions about censorship on the platform. This week, developer Inti Creates announced that the Xbox One version of its naughty game, Gal Gun Revine, has been preserved for unsurpassed reasons. In the statement, the developer mentions that the development of the game on Xbox One is complete and the master ROM is currently under review, however, after discussions with Microsoft, it was decided not only to stop this progress, but to throw it away it’s not exactly clear why, but the developer seems to suggest a censorship issue.

According to Inti Creates, it would be “impossible to ensure the consistency of the experience on all platforms” if it released the game on Xbox One, which is why this version is released. Again, no direct reference to censorship, but the language used certainly suggests that this is the essence of the problem.

“Today we would like to announce that we will no longer launch Gal Gun Returns on the Xbox console family,” the statement said. “As a remaster of the original Gal Gun, we wanted to make sure we stayed true to the spirit of the first entry in the Gal Gun series, and while the development of the Xbox version was complete and the master ROM under review, it became clear, after a productive discussion with Microsoft, that we will not be able to ensure the consistency of the experience on all platforms. Therefore, we decided to focus again on Nintendo Switch and PC for the upcoming release of Gal Gun Revine. We understand the disappointment of all those who were looking forward to playing the game on Xbox One and we want to thank everyone for their continued support. Please accept our sincere apologies for this planned release change. We hope you enjoy the Gal Gun experience on other platforms. We look forward to continuing to work with Microsoft on other versions of PQube in the future. “

While the Xbox One version of the game is canceled, the developer notes that the Nintendo Switch version is scheduled to appear on January 28, 2021 in Japan and a month later on February 12 in North America and Europe, along with the PC version.

At the time of publication, Inti Create did not add the above statement in any way. Meanwhile, Microsoft has said zero on the issue.
