“The Worst House in London” is on the market for $ 1.3 million

A house billed as “probably the most beautiful house in London” is for sale for 950,000 pounds ($ 1.3 million).

With a width of only 6 meters and covering 1,034 square meters, the five-storey property was once a hat shop, according to real estate agent Winkworth, who sells it.

The two-bedroom house in Shepherd’s Bush, west London, was originally transformed by fashion photographer Juergen Teller, according to a Winkworth statement, and has an original Art Deco bathtub and an Aga stove.

“It’s weird, charming and great for fun and it will attract someone who feels they have more life than two up, two down,” said David Myers, the Winkworth sales agent. “Life began as a hat shop, it was transformed by a fashion photographer – the ultimate design house.”

In the basement there is a kitchen, a dining room and double-height glass doors leading to a garden with patio, while the first floor has a reception room. Go up the spiral staircase to the second floor, where you will find a desk, a bedroom and a roof terrace. On the third floor there is a bathroom, a dressing room and a shower room. At the top of the house is the master bedroom.

“The interior design has a personalized approach to a luxury yacht, making the most of small spaces,” according to Winkworth.

The weak house may be strange in London, but extraordinarily narrow houses have long been an accessory in countries where the land is taxed by width, such as Vietnam and the Netherlands, and Japan has established itself as a pioneer in the field.

And while a $ 1.3 million price tag means this listing is far from affordable, small homes are becoming more popular as architects respond to high living costs, increasing urban density and a greater interest in reducing and simplifying our lives.
