From NASCAR to IMSA to good racing on the field, this weekend saw a lot of great action on the track – but some of them were … a little weird. So let’s take a look at some of the weirdest things going on in the racing world this weekend, shall we?
The Lamborghini Huracan WiFi hotspot violates the rules
Here’s one that really let me scratch my head. After qualifying for the 12-hour Sebring event at IMSA, No.19 The Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo team was penalize. Although it should have started on the pole, the GTD car it was instead demoted behind the grid.
Why? It had a WiFi hotspot.
If you are wondering what a racing hotspot has to do with it, it violates IMSA rules because it qualifies as a telemetry piece, which is not allowed in series. Number 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R was promoted to his position in pole position.

Notah Gragson gets back in the car on Pit Road
Here’s another scratch that had the whole internet in its arms. During a pit cycle NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Atlanta Motor Speedway, driver no. 9 Noah Gragson came to his boxing to find out that the number 18 Daniel Hemric was parked too high in the box. Hemric reversed, then Gragson entered his own pit at a strange angle.
And then he came back, almost hitting Hemric’s crew.
Basically, Hemric got too far into Gragson’s boxing during the stop, then retreated into his own box. Gragson responded by stepping back into Hemric’s car. Hemric explained it like this:
“He (Gragson) had no idea what was happening on the racetrack, “he said. ” We went down the pit road and the guy stopped behind us as you accelerated as I pulled into my box and that made me have to orient myself around the guy heading for the box of 9 (Gragson). I turned around and yes, it confused both stops. I turned around and he decided to put it upside down and huddle in the front right wing and punch a hole in our nose Poppy Bank’s Toyota Supra. We had to stop again and fix it. It was completely deliberate and it was absolutely ridiculous. Where they come from, you’re punched in the eye for it. ”
Gragson responded after the race, saying, “I don’t know why he’s upset. I mean, we were behind him coming into the pit because we wrapped our right front tire, and it was in our box. I had to go back with him and I don’t really know why he’s there. I had to back up to get there.
“II would be upset if I were in his place, just based on what he did in his career. It is what it is. We will move forward and continue to fight. ”
There was, of course, a post-race fight that ended without a punch, after the pit crew separated them all. Gragson later posted this video on his Twitter account:
A lot of people are upset because this has become a worrying part of Gragson’s identity as a driver: he can be a little hot and aggressive in ways that put other drivers. in danger. Other people are upset that everyone is upset because there are itches for a driver who pays PR attention to the wind.
Whatever the case, NASCAR is examining the incident and will announce a decision later in the week.
Timothyit’s Rolling Sponge Goes
There were more than a handful of accidents in the 12 Hours of Sebring yesterday, but one of the most vicious was that of LMP2 driver Timothé Buret. Sebring is a notoriously difficult path, largely because it’s a hot, bumpy mess, and Buret appeared to move over the bumps in Tower 1 when he came around the corner. He lost control, burning directly into the tire barriers before completely overturning.
More drama followed on Twitter as users argued over whether or not to “repel the swellings” or “fix Sebring,” but whatever the case, Buret and team no. They were running for second place in the class at the time of the accident, but fortunately Buret did well.
Swindell And the roomom In Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals
Sammy Swindell and Justin Zimmerman had a huge time during the 48th edition of Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals, one of the most important weekends of Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series. The two drivers got in touch and left with a series of flips. Both drivers drove away, but as you can imagine, no one was happy.
“We have a car destroyed by a child,” Swindell said. “I do not know what these children think. All you have to do is buy a driver’s license. You don’t have to qualify. You do not have to do anything. You just show up with money and you run into shit. ”
