The weapon unloaded during the fight at the Acadiana shopping center, no injuries were reported

Lafayette police respond to Acadiana Mall after reports of gunfire.

According to the LPD spokesperson, Cpl. Officers Bridgette Dugas responded to reports of a fight in the food court at the Acadiana Mall on Ambassador Caffery.

A weapon was unloaded during the incident and a fire was fired, police say. No injuries were reported at this time.

Lafayette police point out that this was an isolated incident and that they are working to locate the people involved.

The mall is closed for the rest of the evening.

Witnesses tell KATC they heard gunshots and then saw people fleeing. People were being held behind the shops by mall employees.
