The Warframe developer insists that nothing changes creatively after being purchased by Tencent

“Independent creative”

Tencent, a stupid Chinese conglomerate, has become a little bigger recently. He added Leyou’s assets to his portfolio due to a new acquisition.

Leyou is probably not a name you recognize, but some of his studios will sound. Most notably, Leyou is the parent company of Digital Extremes, which is the developer Warframe. That’s right – free darling Warframe is now a Tencent property.

Following the acquisition, Digital Extremes quickly insisted that this would not affect anything so far Warframethe direction is concerned. In a post on its website, Digital Extremes says “WWe will remain creatively independent … Tencent is well known for respecting the creative decisions and integrity of its studios and for giving them the autonomy and independence to experiment, innovate and develop. “

As for the future Warframe, Digital Extremes offers some details. The developer says that “it focuses on expanding to new generation consoles (Xbox Series X / S), innovating with The New War, continuing with intense space battles (Corpus Railjack) and more surprises in 2021”. Digital Extremes will also work with Tencent to bring the Chinese version of Warframe up to date with the western version.

Tencent takes over more teams than just Digital Extremes. This acquisition includes splash damage (Gears Tactics developer), Athlon Games, Kingmaker, Radiance and 20% of Certain Affinity (co-developer of Halo Infinite).
