Santo Domingo, RD A commission from the Ministries of Defense and Economy, Planning and Development visited the province yesterday aboard an Air Force helicopter to raise the perimeter fence between this part and Haiti, where work is believed to begin.
Although no details were provided about the construction works, it is believed that the erection of the perimeter wall will be initially budgeted by Pedernales, with an estimated value of 28 million US dollars.
The commission of both ministries is conducting a survey on the border line between Pedernales and the Haitian community in Anse-au-pitre, to make way for the construction of the fence or retaining wall for greater security, which will prevent people from entering without documents, and human trafficking, drug trafficking and other crimes.
The perimeter wall was announced by President Luis Abinader in his accountability speech to the National Assembly, to maintain order on the border with Haiti. The commission that arrived in Pedernales met with representatives of the sectors and other people.
