The video captured the moment when a heroic grandmother chased a future thief after it seems that she tried to snatch her purse from an outdoor table, where the woman was eating.

The woman allegedly took care of her own business when the suspect approached her table, took her purse and ran from the stage on foot.

He didn’t get far.

What are the details?

According to the seven Australian news, the incident took place in front of the Pimpama Tavern on the gold coast of Australia, on January 19th.

Surveillance footage captured the moment when the woman takes off her shoes, follows the future thief and approaches him on the ground after he takes his bag from the table and takes it out.

As the commotion pours from the sidewalk onto the road, the woman can be seen placing the man – later identified as from Upper Coomera – in what appears to be a head lock before snatching her bag and leaving the scene.

The suspect then gets into a white truck and leaves the scene.

The woman, who was spending her birthday, suffered cracked ribs, cuts and bruises as a result of the fight.

Beginning at age 60 reported that the woman is a grandmother to at least 10 grandchildren.

Queensland police were able to locate the suspect and arrest him on charges of robbery.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday that the suspect had been identified as Troy Charles Bennett.

Bennett appeared in court on Wednesday, where he was said to have “hidden in the toilet” more than an hour before appearing wearing a coronavirus mask and sunglasses.

“He tried to hide behind two prosecutors as they were leaving the court, despite efforts to avoid the cameras,” the press reported. “Bennett then fled to Mal Burke Park across the street from the courthouse.”
