The US Navy is ready to help cargo ships block the Suez Canal

The US Navy is ready to do everything it can to help this boat float.

The Navy could be called to release the containerized ship on the ground that blocked the Suez Canal and disrupted global trade on Tuesday.

“An American official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Navy is ready to send a team of dredging experts to the canal, but is awaiting approval from local authorities,” he told Reuters this morning.

The cargo ship Ever given, registered in Panama and under German leadership, weighs approximately 224,000 tons and is 1,300 feet long, approximately at the height of the Empire State Building.

It was forced by strong winds. Various efforts to free the ship have failed since then, although the ship moved for the first time on Saturday morning, according to Egyptian authorities.

“Today, we have managed to create a space with a depth of 18 meters and we believe that we will be able to put the ship into operation until today,” Sama Canal Authority President Osama Rabie told a news conference today.

About 12 percent of world trade passes through Suez, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The Ever Give was involved in a collision with a ferry in Hamburg, Germany in 2019, an accident attributed to the wind.
