A UPS driver is out of work after a customer claimed to have caught him spitting on a package from her doorstep – but whether or not he was hiding it is under discussion.
This incident fell at home last Thursday Ann Patton in Ocala, FL – where the homeowner says she saw something on a surveillance camera that led her to believe that a bitter UPS driver had taken revenge by spitting on one of her packages.
Looks like UPS was scheduled to come that day and pick up a separate package that was supposed to be ready for the driver … but it wasn’t. Patton tells us she’s never been notified of any UPS pickups, so there’s nothing left.
However, Patton claims that when the driver arrived and realized that what had been sent there had not been found anywhere … he tried to return to them by picking up an Amazon package that had been left earlier in the day and spitting. on him … at least that’s what happened in the eyes of Patton, who caught the alleged spit on the video.
Of course, the Pattons got scared and called UPS in anger … saying they were told the driver would be preserved, but they claim the company refused to replace its Amazon package. Of course, there are many things to worry about if he spits on … COVID comes to mind.
Now, as for UPS … they have a slightly different version of events. The company tells us that, yes, they fired the guy – who was a temporary vacation driver – but he did so only out of an abundance of caution, because in their eyes … it’s not clear if he spat or not .
Decide for yourself … UPS said it seemed like their guy mistakenly thought it was the package he was there to pick up and simply followed the protocol by blowing on the label to clean it so he could apply the UPS label. They think that when he realized it was the wrong package, he left.
Anyway, they say he’s gone … and they’ve apologized countless times to Patton. They also say they want to see the full video before offering any additional compensation, but say the Pattons have not yet submitted the unedited footage.
