The unreleased Simpsons game discovered on the Old Sega Dreamcast

A few decades ago, there were a lot of Simpson games on the market. Between The Simpsons: Road Rage, Hit & Run, and the popular arcade game, the property was a common event in the game space. Nowadays, not so much. That being said, the beloved cartoon is relevant once again in the field of video games this week, but in a very unusual way.

Discovered on an old Sega Dreamcast development kit, a user named Sreak found an unpublished Simpson platform game that was clearly in the works at one point. The game is titled The Simpsons: Bug Squad! and, strangely, it places characters in control of an insect that can run around the home of the titular family. Homer himself can be seen in the game world, but other than that, nothing about him other than the iconic appearance of the house indicates that he is related to the property in a major way.

regardless The Simpsons: Bug Squad! it should have been, this is clearly just a technological demonstration that was thrown together by the developer Red Lemon. In fact, there is a good chance that this game will not be formal Simpson the project of any kind and the studio just opted to quickly recreate the look of the house as a model so that the error character could then run inside. The demo itself was also said to have been done in October 2000, which is somehow over 20 years ago. Where does time go?

Additional information about The Simpsons: Bug Squad! it hasn’t come to light since the game was discovered, but it certainly makes you think about how many games like this could have been working for Dreamcast that day. Although none of these time-wasting games would have saved the system from becoming irrelevant, it is certainly interesting to think about.

So what do you think or this whole situation? Revealing this game makes you want it Simpson would games return to a more formal quality nowadays? Let me know in the comments or send me a message on Twitter at @ MooreMan12 to talk more about this story.
