The cloister of the Cloister Representatives of the University Council of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) abandoned today, Wednesday, a meeting that was scheduled with the president of the institution, Jorge Haddock, as a form of protest at the granting of a teacher’s post.

Jorge Colon, explained to one of the representatives of the cloister who left Puerto Rico Metro that, in this way, I request that the Board of Directors of the institution revoke that decision which, according to him, is illegal in accordance with the UPR regulations.

“I left the meeting in protest of the decision taken by the UPR Governing Council to grant a professorship to President Jorge Haddock, as this is an illegal and anti-regulatory act,” Colón said in an interview. phone.

“The board of directors does not have the power to grant him any function or any degree of cloister,” he added.

Late last month, the institution’s governing body approved Haddock’s teaching position and brought him to the contractual responsibilities of both parties, because when the president was confirmed in office in 2018, a clause stated that he would he would have to grant the square if he remained in the presidential seat for two years or more.

According to Colón, the institution’s regulations stipulate that, in order to fill a vacancy, a public call must be opened and interested parties must request, by means of a letter, that curriculum vitae and their credentials and then the staff committee in the vacancy department evaluates the candidates to decide who to recruit.

“All this was ignored on this occasion by the president. The board of directors took power that it should not go beyond all regulatory measures and give it a place and that bad and discriminatory,” the professor added.
