The opening of the Southeastern Conference in Kentucky was delayed, South Carolina interrupted basketball activities due to COVID. Originally set for next Tuesday, December 29, the game is postponed, with no makeup date set yet. Kentucky will now drop the SEC cut in Starkville on Saturday, January 2nd.

However, John Calipari may choose to add another non-conference opponent to the program on the night of December 29 to fill the opening in South Carolina. The UK has an open non-conference game to play due to the cancellation of the Detroit Mercy game, and KSR’s own Matt Jones hears that a familiar program could intervene and play cats between the Louisville and Mississippi State games.

What does UK-Bellarmine sound like? Bellarmine is one of the opponents considered for an alternate game on Tuesday night.

Stay tuned.
