The trial of Naasón Joaquín in the Los Angeles court is stuck

Guadalajara /

Naasón Joaquín García, detained in June 2019 in the United States, charged with multiple sex crimes against minors, kicked off 2020 with new evidence in the case against him. The leader of the Light of the World continues the trial in Los Angeles court, where one of his alleged associates pleaded guilty.

Sochil Martin was the first plaintiff of the so-called apostle and a key witness in the charge against him. Martin gave his version of events in the documentary series The trade, which was released in Utah and officially premiered in March.

On July 31, the California prosecutor’s office filed a new charge in the Los Angeles District Court against the leader of Luz del Mundo and two of his alleged accomplices, Alondra Ocampo and Susana Medina.

A judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court dismissed six of those 36 charges on Oct. 21 for lack of evidence. There were four complaints of extortion and two involving the rape of a minor.

The start of the trial was delayed to January 6, 2021 by Judge Ronald Coen, who agreed to the defense’s request to postpone the date, which was previously scheduled for November 12.

It has been determined that Naasón Joaquín will be tried along with Susana Medina Oaxaca, who is accused of being an accomplice to the leader of the Light of the World.

Last Tuesday, the Financial Intelligence Unit filed five complaints against Naasón for tax evasion and money laundering.
