With quarterback Deshaun Watson specifically asking Texans to interview top candidates, such as Robert Saleh and Eric Bieniemy, Texans, according to NFL network Mike Garafolo, appear to be considering appointing * verification notes * to Josh McCown’s head coach.
Strangely, the Texans are not one of nine teams McCown has played in his extremely mediocre, but somehow long, career in the NFL.
I’m sure this will go very well.
Personally, there are many, many layers in which I could go with my general distaste for the way Texans handle this situation. I’ll start with the fact that even Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network is starting to do his best to turn this “crazy” idea for Texan fans into a “gum dah, it’s so crazy that it could work.”

Maybe choosing a coach who, in fact, you know, a coach, would be a better way to go while your team is clearly going through a period of major transformation. Call it a reconstruction, call it a reorganization, call it what you will – Texans face a steep climb back to being a fighting list due in large part to Bill O’Brien’s ineptitude.
Once again, please try to tell me that there is no race issue in the NFL head coach circuit, as an inexperienced coaching reserve QB is considered an offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy who worked in not the best NFL coaches in Andy Reid, he won a Super Bowl in that role and is one game away from returning to the Big Game.
If the Texans want to anoint a quarterback quarterback to be the head coach of their franchise, they should just trade what I can say for sure that Deshaun Watson is a major upset in Miami in exchange for Ryan Fitzpatrick, and then Fitz can take on the role of player / coach. He would save money by not having to pay a coach! Win-win!
I’m not sure how the hell they’re going to spin Deshaun Watson, but I personally can’t wait to find out.
