While smart watches continue to escape the market share of traditional mechanical watches, Swiss watchmaker H. Moser & Cie is left with “if you can’t beat them, Subscribe to their approach with the latest version of it Apple Alp watch inspired by Apple which now even includes a rotating mechanical loading icon.

When the Swiss Alp Watch debuted for the first time in 2016, was even introduced with a video with tongue in cheek parodying Apple product launches. But it wasn’t just Apple’s marketing that made H. Moser appeal. Wwith its box housing, The Swiss Alp Watch looked like a clone of the Apple Watch, but only on the outside. Inside was an authentic Swiss movement that needed winding to keep the only “application” of the watch –telling time – working. Only 50 of them have been produced, priced at $ 25,000, to attract devoted watch enthusiasts who want a wearable statement about not jumping on the band of smart watches.

Five years later, H. Moser revealed what he called Swiss Alp Watch final update“Another jab at Apple’s annual upgrade cycle for its smart laptops.” Always-the visible face of the original Swiss watch is a dead gift that wasn’t from Apple, but it’s harder to tell the final update from the latest iterations of the Apple Watch.

The reflective face of the original Swiss watch was painted using the same light absorber (over 99% of visible light) Vantablack paint which led a visitor to the museum to they fall into an eight-foot hole which looked as if it had been painted on the floor. Together with the hands of the hours and minutes painted in black, makes the final update look like it has a genuine OLED screen.

Wuntil the first Swiss Alp Watch used a smaller traditional frame to display the movements of the second hand of the watch Final upgrade, has been replaced with a rotating gradient disc revealed by a series of diaphragms that recreates the loading icon most often seen on Apple smartphones. But under the face, you’ll find H. Moser’s Caliber HMC 324 movement that runs for about 96 hours between windings.

Like the original, the Swiss Alp Watch, Final update is limited to only 50 tracks –but now priced at $ 30,800. For so much money, you can buy almost 40 of the most expensive Apple Watch Series 6 models and wears a different one every day for over a month. But while the Final Update has no apps, it will run longer than the Apple Watch before it needs a boot.
