EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wisconsin (WEAU) – A large fire forced residents of an Eau Claire mobile park to be evacuated from their homes Friday night.
Eau Claire Fire & Rescue chief Matt Gunderson said crews were called to the Home Terrace Hill mobile park at 3600 Seymour Road around 4:40 p.m., Friday, April 2.
About 70 houses in the neighborhood were evacuated and a city bus was brought in for temporary shelter. By 7 pm, all residents were left behind in their homes and asked to take shelter in their place due to heavy smoke.
Eau Claire Fire & Rescue says the fire was brought under control after about 45 minutes, although strong winds made it difficult. The crews remained on stage for about four hours to remove the remaining hot spots.
No injuries or damage to the structures were reported.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated
