DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 83 more COVID-19 deaths and another 1,199 confirmed cases of the virus on Tuesday.
As of 10:30 a.m., a total of 298,065 Iowans had tested positive for the virus and 4,222 Iowans had died of the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
State data show that COVID-19 was the leading cause of 3,861 of the reported deaths and contributed to 361 of the reported deaths.
A total of 258,746 people in Iowa have recovered from COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
The state reported that 552 people are in hospital with the virus. In addition, 62 patients have been hospitalized with the virus in the last 24 hours. There are 90 people in the ICU and 30 fans. The use of fans has continued to decline substantially in the state, since it reached a maximum of 155 people per fan on November 24.
According to data provided by the state, 3,453 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,399,888 tests have been performed since the pandemic began. According to these data, the positivity rate in the last 24 hours was 34.7%.
