The speakers show the iPad-colored colored iMacs for the April 20 event

A prominent leaker has suggested that Apple will introduce a variety of color options for an updated iMac model at its “Spring Loaded” event, meanwhile, another expert strongly indicates that it is launching Apple Silicon.

Rumors about the special event on April 20 Apple released Apple a number of different devices, including updated iPad models and an Apple Silicon version of the iMac. The well-known product leaker “L0vetodream” suggests in the subsequent analysis of the AR teaser for the event in which the iMac update could be colored.

Tweeting Saturday, the account puts together an image of the AR invitation logo next to one that displays multiple i3 Mac G3s. The model in question was well known because it was offered to the public in a wide variety of bright colors.

However, following initial reports on the tweet, “@ L0vetodream” offered in a second message that “they said nothing” in that first post.

Earlier, the tweeter speculated that Apple could introduce an iMac with a much larger screen than the existing 27-inch iMac model, although it stopped recommending the size.

Earlier rumors claimed that Apple is considering providing color options for the new iMac, such as in the renderings published in February. The models have been described as a mix of Pro Display XDR and iPad Pro, complete with edge-to-edge displays and colors similar to iPad Air.

It is very likely that Apple will use such an iMac release to introduce Apple Silicon, but it is not clear whether it will continue with the M1 or introduce a new variant. Posting on Friday, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg he thought, “Would it be weird for someone else if a big iMac used essentially the same processor as an iPad Pro?”

It is unclear whether this refers to the fact that the M-series chips are similar to the well-known A-series or whether Apple intends to use a modified version of the M1 in the iMac. Apple usually uses improved versions of the A-Series chips in its iPad Pro range, so Gurman’s mention might suggest that something similar may happen to the iMac.

February speculation had “M1X” as a 12-core processor, compared to the 8 cores in M1, as well as the increase in GPU from 8 cores to 16 cores. There have also been claims that the chip is made using a 5 nanometer process, has 256 execution units compared to 128 in M1 and may be able to drive three displays instead of two.
