Last week, Roger Craig Smith – the voice Sonic the Hedgehog for over ten years – he announced his departure from the role.

There is obviously a heated discussion about who could be the next vocal actor Sonic. Many fans have long demanded that the vocal actors of the past Sonic the Hedgehog return, and it seems that one, in particular, has already reached out to his agent to contact Sega.

The guy we’re talking about is Ryan Drummond. If the name doesn’t sound like him, he’s best known in the community for voicing Sonic in the original Dreamcast releases. Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. It was also credited later in games like Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut and Sonic Advance 3.

During a recent live stream, Drummond confirmed that his agent had reached Sega. This was revealed in response to a question about his possible return:

“I wish I could [say ‘yes’], but we don’t know anything yet. You know how much I know … We don’t want to get bogged down in this topic of conversation, but I have no problem … telling everyone … my agent contacted SEGA today, so we hope you’re having a conversation. And we’ll see what happens next. There are a lot of different factors that people don’t even realize are at stake here. “

While this will no doubt come as interesting news to many, whether or not Sega would be recruiting someone for such an iconic role is a whole other question. Would you like to see Drummond resume his role as Sonic? Tell us below.
