The seismic network records nine movements of the earth to the south this morning

The Puerto Rico Seismic Network (PRSN) recorded eight earthquakes early Thursday, all reported as felt, with magnitudes ranging between 2.1 and 3.9.

There are no tsunami warnings or alerts as a result of the earthworks.

The first earthquake this morning was recorded at 1:02 in the morning with a magnitude of 3.3 and a maximum intensity estimated by III in Guánica. The epicenter of this natural phenomenon was 10.09 kilometers southeast of Guánica, with a depth of 12 kilometers.

The largest and most recent earthquake was 4.0 by 7:17 in the morning. Its epicenter was 7 kilometers deep and, according to the Seismic Network, the epicenter took place 10.39 kilometers east-southeast of the above-mentioned municipality.

3. Magnitude 3.06 – Reported as felt at 3:22 am Its epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 10.43 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

4. Magnitude 2.78 – reported as felt at 3:42 in the morning Its epicenter was located at a depth of 14 kilometers, 9.6 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

5. Magnitude 2.15 – Reported as felt at 3:45 in the morning Its epicenter was located at a depth of 13 kilometers, 11.28 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

8. Magnitude 3.59 – Reported as felt at 5:34 am Its epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 10.06 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

9. Magnitude 4.00 – reported to be felt at 7:17 am Its epicenter was located at a depth of 7 kilometers, 10.39 kilometers east-southeast of Guánica.

On December 28 last year, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake shook the same geographical area as the earthquakes that occurred today. On January 6 this year, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook the southern area.

In the area southeast of Guánica is the Punta Montalva defect, which since the earth’s movement at the beginning of the year has been investigated by dozens of scientists.
