The Seattle Seahawks change for Gabe Jackson, signing Gerald Everett

SEATTLE – Seattle Seahawks buy guard Gabe Jackson of the Las Vegas Raiders for a selection in the fifth round of 2021, sources for Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said.

The Seahawks also agreed to a one-year deal with former Los Angeles Rams finalist Gerald Everett.

Their trade with Jackson gives them an upgrade along the offensive line, something quarterback Russell Wilson said he wants when he publicly conveyed his frustrations with the organization after the season.

In Everett, Wilson gets another weapon in the passing game with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. In a one-year deal, Everett is $ 7 million, with $ 6 million fully guaranteed, a source told Schefter.

The Seahawks, according to Fowler, approached goalie Kevin Zeitler before choosing the Baltimore Ravens. That would have reunited Wilson with his Wisconsin college teammate.

Jackson, 29, spent his entire career with the Raiders, playing both left and right guard. Seattle started the week in need of a left-back guard and center, Mike Iupati retired and Ethan Pocic became an unrestricted free agent. The Seahawks attack Duane Brown and right-hander Brandon Shell under contract for another season, while right-back Damien Lewis has three years left on his rookie deal.

Giving up the fifth round for Jackson, Seattle has only three selections in this year’s draft: a second, fourth and seventh.

Everett will reunite with the Seahawks’ new offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, who has been with the Rams for all of Everett’s four NFL seasons. Waldron was his position coach during Everett’s debut season, after the Rams recruited him to the second round in South Alabama.

Everett, who turns 27 on June 25, comes from the best season of his career, which saw him catch 41 passes for 417 meters and a touchdown. He also hurried to get a score of 2 meters. In a 5th week round of the Washington football team, Everett caught four passes for a maximum season of 90 meters.

During the 2019 season, Everett had a successful performance in a week 5 loss to the Seahawks, in which he caught seven passes for a 136-yard yard. It was his only 100-yard performance with the Rams.

Everett served primarily as a backup for Tyler Higbee, capturing 127 passes for 1,389 yards and eight touchdowns in 61 games, including 11 starts.

The tight end was a must for the Seahawks, with Greg Olsen in retirement. Jacob Hollister and Luke Willson are free agents. Everett will join an extremely close-knit group that also has Will Dissly, Colby Parkinson in the fourth round of 2020 and rookie Tyler Mabry in 2020.

Everett is Seattle’s second addition since the negotiating window opened Monday, following corner Ahkello Witherspoon, who also signed a one-year deal.
