The Saudi Crown Prince receives the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, state media reported.

Crown Prince Mohammed, the de facto ruler of the kingdom, received the vaccine in accordance with the national vaccination plan COVID-19 of the Saudi Ministry of Health, according to the Saudi news agency.

Saudi Arabia, which received deliveries of COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pzifer and BioNTech earlier this month, began its vaccination campaign on December 17th. The country’s health minister, Tawfiq al-Rabiah, was one of the first Saudis to receive the vaccine that day.

Al-Rabiah thanked the Crown Prince “on Friday for his courage and continued pursuit of providing vaccines to citizens and residents,” according to the Saudi news agency.

Saudi Arabia reported 361,903 cases of coronavirus, including 178 detected in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said on Friday. The total includes 6,168 deaths, including nine new deaths on the last day.
