The San Francisco 49ers should look at free agent RG Gabe Jackson

The Las Vegas Raiders can give the 49ers a chance to consolidate their top right depth chart. Josina Anderson reported on Wednesday that she expects the Raiders to release RG Gabe Jackson after seven years with the club.

Performance did not lead to departure. Jackson was to earn $ 9.6 million next season, and his contract left zero dead money for Vegas to break up with him.

In fact, Jackson played very well for a strong offensive front of the Raiders last year and started all 16 games. Two years earlier, he started all 24 games he played. An elbow injury limited him to 13 games in 2018, and a pre-season knee injury kept him at 11 games the following year.

While the 49ers didn’t invest much in RG during Kyle Shanahan’s tenure, it was enough of a problem last year that they could spend some of their limited resources to bring in a reliable player who could enters as a starter and allows players like Daniel Brunskill to work as a backup. This would improve their starting point and help them with the depth they suffered last year as the injuries piled up.

It would be a deviation from the norm for San Francisco, but hitting tires on an available starting RG, such as Jackson, could help secure an offensive line that needs some support.
