The San Francisco 49ers lose two more coaches to the New York Jets

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has taken on two offensive assistants from the San Francisco 49ers. The former defensive coordinator chose Niners, game coordinator Mike LaFleur to be his offensive coordinator and offensive line coach John Benton to serve in the same position as the run game coordinator title. according to a report by Mike Silver of NFL Media.

The 49ers will promote Chris Foerster, currently the assistant of the game planning team to become the coach of the offensive line and recruited Rich Scangarello as coach. What happens to defender Shane Day’s coach is unknown.

Foerster was the assistant coach of the offensive line last year and will return to the role he held for the 49ers under Jim Tomsula in 2015. He took over in Miami as the offensive line coach for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Scangarello was head coach Kyle Shanahan’s first defensive coach with the 49ers, before becoming the coordinator of the Broncos offensive in 2018. He was fired after a season and joined the Eagles as an offensive assistant. His return seemed imminent after he left Philadelphia and there was probably an exodus of offensive coaches from the 49ers.
