Designed by Hazel, the mask, which is currently a concept and not available for purchase, addresses “the environmental issues of disposable masks, while improving the characteristics of a multi-purpose personal protective coating,” according to a press release. of the Razer on Tuesday.
The company, a major hardware manufacturer known for its computer mice and laptops, says the mask uses a medical-grade N95 respirator; detachable and rechargeable fans; and air flow regulators.
The fans can be recharged and sanitized by inserting them into the wireless charging box, which has UV disinfectant lights.
The company said the scratch-resistant waterproof mask is made from recyclable plastics, further reducing its impact on the environment.
The transparent design of the mask allows people to see the wearer’s face, and the lights inside the mask automatically turn on in the dark. The microphone and amplifier improve muffled speech.
And wearers can customize their look by activating two lighting areas with a range of 16.8 million colors and a variety of dynamic lighting effects.
“The Project Hazel smart mask concept is designed to be functional, yet comfortable and useful for interacting with the world, while maintaining a sociable aesthetic,” said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO of Razer.
There is no set release date for the mask, as it is still being adjusted, a Razer spokesman told CNN.
Earlier during the coronavirus pandemic, Razer transformed factories in China to make face masks.
And in May, the company, headquartered in both Singapore and Las Vegas, said it would offer millions of free face masks in Singapore, while the country faces an increase in coronavirus cases.
