American Airlines said the coverage announced by the Miami authorities will not have any negative impact on flight operations and the influx of passengers into the Dominican Republic.

The US airline explained that the flight operations and passenger movement will not be changed due to the restrictive measure ordered by the authorities of the city of Miami Beach, United States.

In a statement, Miami Beach authorities ordered the closing of the access viaducts to that tourist island of Florida due to the uncontrollable masses during the Spring Spring University vacation.

As detailed by the company, its Miami-Santo Domingo flights and vice versa will continue to arrive and depart at scheduled times and comply with the flight itinerary scheduled by the flight operations centers of the respective national airports.

“Until now, we will not be affected by this measure of coverage of the announcement by the authorities in Miami, USA”, clarified an American executive director of LISTIN DIARIO.

Meanwhile, the emergency measure coincides with the registration on Saturday of more than two million cases of covid-19 in Florida, the third state in the country with the highest incidence of the virus.

American operates 15 commercial passenger flights daily from domestic airports to Miami and other North American states.

American Airlines said that, from next April, the American company will launch six new frequencies from Philadelphia Airport, in the state of Pennsylvania, in the northeast of the country, considered a market with potential emissivity compared to the Dominican beaches.

Regarding its flight schedule, the airline explained that, through Las Américas International Airport, José Francisco Peña Gómez performs six daily flight operations to Miami, United States.

While in the case of the international terminal in Santiago, the company performs about four daily flight operations. Meanwhile, through the Punta Cana terminal in Higuey, the airline operates two flight franchises a day and through Gregorio Luperón, in Puerto Plata, also two daily operations.

American Airlines, with its daily flight operations to and from the Dominican Republic, expects to connect Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Santiago with hubs in the North American cities of Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and Philadelphia.

In all cases, the airline will operate 172-passenger Boeing 737 aircraft. As for April, the American will increase its operations in the Dominican Republic.
