The price of the dollar on March 19

Mexico City /

At the beginning of operations the price of dollar today Friday was up to 20.74 pesos in banks. Meanwhile, the interbank exchange rate amounts to 20.44 pesos per dollar, with a loss of 0.11%.

BBVA Mexico sells the dollar at 20.74 pesos per dollar, while Banorte does it at 20.70, Santander at 20.50 and Azteca Bank in 20.40 units.

The peso appreciated slightly and was heading for the second consecutive week of gains, while investors watched the performance of the US Treasury bond rate, after reaching a maximum of 14 months on the eve.

How is the exchange rate going?

Basic bank explained in a report that during the week the exchange rate tried unsuccessfully to break through, twice, the 20.30 pesos support after the Fed’s monetary policy announcement, which sends the signal of an increase in demand for dollars below that level .

“If drilled in the short term, the exchange rate could extend the downward movement to a level of 20.15 pesos per dollar, which was important support in mid-February,” he said.

There is a mixed performance on the foreign exchange market, where the Mexican peso is the most appreciated currency, followed by the Turkish lira by 0.88 percent, the Brazilian real that advanced by 0.70 percent and the Russian ruble by 0.37 percent.

It should be noted that advance currencies come from all emerging economies and the appreciation of the peso is not associated with any special event in Mexico.

The appreciation of this group of currencies takes place after, on the bond market, the rate of return of 10-year treasury bonds shows a decrease of 1.4 basis points, standing at 1.69 percent. As the performance of the foreign exchange market is mixed, the dollar-weighted index has remained unchanged since yesterday’s close.
