Citibanamex sells the dollar at 21.15 pesos per dollar, while BBVA Mexico does it at 20.96, Banorte in 20.85 pesos, Azteca Bank at 20.70 and Santander in 20.61 units.

The peso depreciated against a global dollar advance in a market with the objectives of the subsequent launch of the monetary policy announcement United States Federal Reserve (Fed).

How is the exchange rate going?

Basic bank explained in a report that the peso started the session with a depreciation due to the general consolidation of the US dollar, whose weighted index is up 0.24 percent, after remaining slightly unchanged in the first two sessions of the week.

“The strengthening of the dollar is, in turn, the result of an upward movement in interest rates on treasury bonds, whose 10-year rate has reached a maximum of 1.6 percent, a level not seen since February 6, 2020.

Before announcing the monetary policy of Federal Reserve, the reaction of the financial markets, the interest rate and the bond purchase program are expected to remain unchanged.

However, an upward adjustment in inflation expectations, economic growth and the future projection of the interest rate is expected. It should be recalled that in the last three months new fiscal incentives have been approved and the global vaccination process has begun, which has progressed rapidly, mainly in advanced economies.

The market will also pay close attention to the president’s comments Fed up, Jerome Powell, which will hold a press conference at 12:30 p.m.
