The president of Mexico is reappearing and is facing rumors about his health

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reappeared in a video on Friday, the fifth day of his covid-19 contagion, and thereby stopped rumors about his health.

“I present myself to you so that there are no rumors, misunderstandings. I’m fine, although I still have to rest. Now I’ve taken care to communicate with you,” the president said in a video he posted on the networks.

“I still have covid, but the doctors tell me that the critical stage is already over,” he added.

After the contagion and its subsequent closure, rumors circulated on social networks stating that the president had a neurological problem and therefore did not appear in public.

In his speech, the president thanked leaders in other countries for showing solidarity and affection, in addition to those sent by representatives of the Mexican business sector, workers, academics, friends “and even political opponents.”

“Thank you very much for the way you express yourself about my illness,” he said.

The president said that despite his illness, he also worked “aware of all public affairs and especially aware of the pandemic”.

“We are trying to continue the same strategy and strengthen it,” he said.

He insisted that his government was not “overwhelmed by circumstances and we were able to assist everyone” and added that it had solved the vaccine problem.

“It is the most important thing that will give us the assurance that this terrible pandemic will not continue to cause damage,” he said.

While the UN-created Covax mechanism, he explained that “they have been guaranteed that we will have 1.8 million doses by February”, in addition to the fact that we have already advanced negotiations with the CanSino vaccine in China.

In total, he said, Mexico by February “will have 6 million doses of vaccines and by March, without any problems, we will have doubles, ie 12 million doses,” a figure that does not rule out that by the end of March “To have all older adults vaccinated with a first dose.”
