Yesterday, President Luis Abinader discussed with Haitian accredited ambassadors the Haitian issue and the recent nine-point joint statement agreed on the 14th of this month with Haitian President Jovenel Moïse.
Abinader offered a lunch to diplomats from different nations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Dominican Foreign Minister, Roberto Álvarez.
Due to the importance given to the meeting, the president suspended his participation in the National Council of Magistracy, which yesterday ended the evaluation process of the 60 candidates to replace four judges of the Constitutional Court who spent the period for which they were elected.
The president has already said that meetings with the ambassadors of the countries most involved in Haiti, including Canada, the United States, France and Germany, will begin this week to try to fund two hospitals in the neighboring nation.
Both Abinader and Foreign Minister Alvarez recently argued that the Dominican Republic has offered to be a channel for aid to Haiti.
In the statement, the two heads of state reaffirmed their will to continue working in the priority areas of their respective countries, to exchange experience.
