Pokemon Sword and Shield players will have two weeks to collect a special Pikachu related to today’s International Space Station event. As of January 15, Pokemon Sword and Shield players can collect a special Pikachu that knows the movements of Thunderbolt, Swift, Wish and Celebrate, and comes holding a Comet Shard using the Mystery Gift function of the games. Pikachu can’t usually learn Desire and had the holiday movement only as part of the special gifts. Keep in mind that Celebrate is a harmless move, which literally makes a Pokemon celebrate in battle with no other effects. The move is only effective when used as a Z-Move, a feature that is not present in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
This special Pikachu is a special gift that binds in today’s stream of the Japanese agency for aerospace exploration of the first sunrise over the International Space Station. As part of the festivities, Pikachu and Rayquaza appeared through Augmented Reality in space. Pikachu appeared with an astronaut on the International Space Station, while Rayquaza flew over the earth, similar to the way Pokemon appeared in various Pokemon environments.
Despite some hype on the internet, the live stream did not contain any significant Pokemon ads. Some hoped that Pokemon Company would use the announcement to announce new games, such as remakes Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, or use the event to officially launch the 25th anniversary celebration. However, because the streaming flow was kept by a separate agency from Pokemon Company (and Pokemon Company barely promoted broadcast), any major announcement was the longest.
Pikachu, named KIBO’s Pikachu after the model of the Japanese experiment on the International Space Station, can be obtained through the Mystery Gift function, from now until January 15. Players will need to connect to the Internet to retrieve Pikachu, which is available to all players.
