The Pokemon Card 1st Edition set is up for auction for a staggering amount

A full set of 1st edition of the original Pokemon books from 1999 were recently sold for a staggering $ 666,000. This collection is one of the best-selling in the history of trading with trading cards and serves as a new benchmark for the growing sales that have taken place in the Pokemon space in the last year.

The sale itself was made through Goldin Auctions and contained not only each edition book 1 of the original set, but all were classified under the condition “Gem Mint”. If you have no idea what this means, it’s essentially the highest level possible when it comes to Pokemon cards called “Coin” that fall right under it. While the differences between the two scoring levels are not large on paper, the Gem Mint rating can end up earning thousands of dollars more in a potential sale.

Probably the jewel in the crown of the collection came in the form of a Charizard book, the first edition, unique. In the past, this book has sold hundreds of thousands alone. To be included in this larger collection, the whole set made it much more valuable.

In general, Pokemon cards have grown dramatically in the last year or so. Some of these were due, in part, only to a general resurgence of the interest of long-time fans who want to buy some of the books they had as children. However, those with money to throw away, namely content creators, have really gone crazy in recent months and shed even more light on stage. Last week alone, YouTuber Logan Paul revealed that he spent $ 2 million on Pokemon cards, which is for sure.

It remains to be seen if this bubble of Pokemon cards will appear or if prices will continue to rise. However, at this current rate, it does not appear that these original books from the first edition will soon lose their value.
