A 6-year-old girl was sucked under a peloton treadmill – suffering severe scratches and bruises, her father said on Monday.
“It was pretty traumatic,” Brandon Ratliffe told ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America” about the incident involving the Peloton Tread + model and his daughter Jocelyn – offering photos of his scratched, red and bruised foot.

Federal regulators issued an urgent warning over the weekend, telling owners with children to stop using Peloton Tread + after 39 incidents in which children were injured – including one in which one child died.

“CPSC staff believe that Peloton Tread + poses a serious risk to children from abrasions, fractures and death,” the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Saturday.

The agency said that if parents want to continue using the cars, they should keep the equipment in a locked room away from children and pets and unplug it when not in use.
Peloton denied in a statement that “it is disappointed that, despite its collaborative offerings and the fact that Tread + meets all applicable safety standards, CPSC was not willing to engage in meaningful discussions with Peloton before issuing its inaccurate and misleading press release.
