The Packers deny Rams’ attempt to change for QB Aaron Rodgers

The Los Angeles Rams threw an Ave Maria, but Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers hit it without thinking.

According to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times, the Rams “considered making a tough run” in a deal for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers before finally agreeing to a deal for Matthew Stafford, but the Packers rejected trade investigations and were “firm” about not trading the alleged MVP.

Rams also looked at Houston Texans ‘Deshaun Watson as a farmer, highlighting Los Angeles’ wide net distribution to upgrade the quarterback through the commercial market.

With Rodgers and Watson out of the picture, the Rams struck a deal that sent Jared Goff and the upcoming first-round picks to the Lions for Stafford, who wanted to leave Detroit.

This is the first attempt reported in a deal for Rodgers, who is expected to win his third MVP award after throwing 48 touchdowns and leading the NFL in passing percentage and passing rating in 2020. The Packers traded in the first round to play Jordan Love in April last year and may finally move on from Rodgers to start the Love era, but no transition seems imminent.

In fact, it is certain that the conversation between the Rams and the Packers was a quick one. Rams, doing his best to improve at quarterback, had to call the Packers about Rodgers. A firm denial suggests that the packers were not at all interested in the conversation.

All signs continue to show that Rodgers is the Packers quarterback in 2021.
