Kendrick said it was doubtful that the reduction in new cases of COVID-19 was the result of ongoing vaccinations. Approximately 32,000 of the nearly 3 million Oklahomans over the age of 18 received the first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
From Monday to Wednesday, the state reported between 1,500 and 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 daily – a sharp drop from the previous week. From January 13 to Sunday, the state reported between 3,000 and 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 every day.
The decline in the number of infections coincides with a recent drop in state-level hospitalizations of 1,926 COVID patients hospitalized on January 9th.
